From Resource to Finished Product

YQP operates an integrated material extraction, processing and manufacturing facility in Queensland's Surat Basin.  Built around a unique high-grade glacial silica resource, our facilities enable us to manage the journey from raw material extraction through to processed sands, engineered cementitious products and specialty aggregates.

Our capabilities extend well beyond traditional quarrying. YQP has facilities for material extraction, washing, beneficiation, drying, screening and grading, product batching, blending, bagging and product handling. This provides the flexibility to manufacture both established YQP products and customised products for our customers. Our processing capability allows silica sands to be tightly graded for specialist applications, while our manufacturing infrastructure supports the production of engineered dry cementitious products for mining, civil, construction and other industrial applications.


By combining our natural resource with processing infrastructure, manufacturing capability, laboratory testing and experienced personnel, YQP maintains greater control over raw material quality, product consistency and finished-product performance.

Raw Material Extraction

It Starts with the Yuleba Resource - One Resource. Multiple Applications.

At the heart of YQP is the Yuleba glacial silica deposit, a naturally occurring resource containing high-grade silica sands together with distinctive stone and pebble aggregates.


Material is selectively extracted from the deposit, allowing YQP to identify and process materials according to their characteristics and intended end use.


Unlike many hard-rock quarrying operations, extraction of our resource is undertaken without the need for blasting. This provides flexibility in selectively recovering the different materials contained within the deposit.

Sand Washing & Beneficiation

Refining the Natural Resource

Raw material extracted from the deposit can be processed through YQP's sand washing and beneficiation facilities.


The beneficiation process separates and cleans the Stone, Pebbles and Sand from other naturally occurring materials within the deposit. Two screens, one incline and one horizontal screen, are used to separate material into defined particle-size ranges. Pebble and Stone material are put through a Log Washer which gently scrubs the material, releasing other material and leaving behind these beautiful decorative artefacts.


YQP's processing system incorporates Attrition Cell technology and cyclonic separation, providing specialist washing and scrubbing capability for further processing where required. No chemicals are used in our processing. This enables us to allow the water to be desilted naturally through our system of sediment ponds for reuse in our plant, reducing our water requirements and ensuring we have limited impact on our environment.


This processing capability allows YQP to transform the naturally occurring resource into a more controlled raw material suitable for demanding industrial and engineered applications.


Our Wash Plant has recently been upgraded with two new screen decks and changes to the Attrition Cell Scrubbers to improve cleanliness of the final product through a single wash.

Drying, Screening & Classification

Precision Processing

For applications requiring tightly controlled particle-size distributions, washed silica sand <6mm can be dried before undergoing further screening and classification.


YQP operates rotary drying equipment to remove moisture from processed sand. Drying enables more accurate subsequent screening and classification and allows finished material to be supplied on a controlled dry-weight basis.


Through screening and classification, YQP can produce a variety of engineered silica sand gradings, including:

  • Custom particle-size distributions


This capability supports applications ranging from thermal management and energy infrastructure through to cementitious products, renders, mortars, coatings and specialist industrial products.

Batching & Manufacturing

Turning Quality Raw Materials into Engineered Products

YQP's facilities incorporate batching and manufacturing capability for the production of engineered dry-mix products.


Our ability to combine processed raw ingredients with cementitious binders and other selected raw materials allows YQP to manufacture specialist products for mining, strata control, civil construction and emerging technologies. Our new Batching Facility was commissioned in January 2026, and enables ingredients to be added with precision into a weighing hopper before being homogenised through our twin ribbon blenders.

Controlled batching provides greater consistency in raw material proportions and finished products while supporting YQP's broader Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.

Bagging, Packaging & Dispatch

Ready for the Job

Our manufacturing process extends through to bagging, packaging, product storage and dispatch.


Different products and customer applications require different packaging solutions. YQP's capabilities enable products to be prepared in appropriate formats for transport, handling and use in mining, construction and industrial environments. Working with our suppliers and customers, specific packaging has been developed to meet customer needs and ensure adherence to regulations they work under.


Our facilities also support private-label manufacturing, enabling approved YQP products or customer formulations to be manufactured and packaged for supply under a customer's own brand, subject to agreed specifications and volume commitments.


This capability provides customers with access to YQP's resource, manufacturing infrastructure and production experience without needing to establish their own processing and manufacturing facilities.

Processing equipment alone does not deliver a quality product. It requires controlled processes, testing and people who understand the materials being manufactured.


Quality Assurance and Quality Control are incorporated throughout YQP's operations, from raw material selection and processing through to batching and finished-product testing.


Our products are supported by both on site and off site laboratory testing and technical capability, allowing materials to be assessed against defined product specifications and providing data to support product development and continuous improvement.


This combination of operational control and laboratory support helps YQP maintain quality and consistency from raw material through to finished product.
